Sketchbook Postings - Sole Survivor

This week there were lots of fun designs that appeared. NOT!

Seems like the Tuesday Group chose to jump right into gelatin printing...
Go Figure!
So, rather than seeing different drawings and interpretations I'm sharing a bit of the day of printing fun. Tomorrow is another printing day...
any suggestions of sketchbook words?

Sketchbook Postings - Exit Serenely

Exit Serenely

I shared this little 'get started' exercise with my workshop attendees in Texas and it was quite a lot of fun to see all the different takes and sketches these little words evoked.

My own drawing started with eyes - first open - then closed - then discretely averted as one might do when slowly backing out of a room. At least one of my students sketched a serene picture of the BIG exit and others chose versions of rivers running - water exiting...

Meanwhile, my design group at home also used these words and I hope to be able to share the pics later on this week.

What came to your mind?

Sketbook Posting - Screw

This week there were lots of fun designs that appeared.
It was interesting to see the different perspectives
we each took on this very small little 'thing'.

We also have someone who used this week's word to stretch themselves into a little story.

Sketchbook Postings - Sunday

Admittedly, we pulled out three words from the basket -- the first two were boo-hoo'd and then came 'Sunday'. Immediately someone said 'don't tell me how it is spelled'.. and we were off. I was thinking of sunny days -- what came to mind for you?  Me recent renderings seem also to have taken on a mandala influence... might be my friend Warren's influence from over at the Daily Doodle . In any case below you'll find mine and a few from members of my design group.

Sketchbook Postings - Blooming

Blooming was a great kick-start for me... I can see all sorts of possibilities from these humble little exercises.
Did 'the teaser' leave ideas popping into your head as well?
Below are my quick sketch and timed collage
based on this week's word.

Did you have any light bulb ideas after you left last Tuesday's Teaser, SOLTUDE, kick around for bit?
Below are my quick sketch and timed collage based on this week's word.

Sketchbook Postings - As You Walked Through the Door

Last week's Tuesday Teaser was As You Walked Through the Door
What do you think of when you hear this phrase?
Grab your sketchbook and 'go for it'!

Lisa/ from Australia used this teaser to create in words and is sharing the following:

......well it was actually me who walked through the door and you were on the television......everything went into slow motion and I had to sit down on the bed and watch...my mouth wide open the entire time.

All of a sudden I had the perfect subject to explore in my art...yes I had heard the raven flapping at the window begging for attention, but I never thought to put him in my studio.

Now less than two years later my life is filled full of raven hearts, my art has been hung in the CBD of Sydney, Australia and about to be shown in Tokyo, Japan.

That's what I think of when you ask the question "what comes to mid when you hear .....".

I have told you too many times...bothered you often .....and every time you have been so nice to me.....approachable.  I love you and still can't thank you enough.....Rose Brenna Hughes.  <15 minutes is up>    :-)

and a set of drawings & collage from a sketchbook:
